THE CORE TRAINING SYSTEM
A students primary goal at Warrior Quest is to attain a high level of proficiency in the Core Training System. Within the confines of the Core Training System, the student learns everything they need to create an effective self-protection method that adapts to their size, strength and dexterity. The Core Training System consists of Godai Taijutsu (elemental body art), Kenjutsu (swordsmanship), Nin-Buki (basic weaponry) and Karujutsu (acrobatics).

KENJUTSU - SWORDSMANSHIP
There are two different swords systems taught within the Kurai Kotori Clan. Every new student must choose one of these systems to be the primary sword weapon they will employ throughout their training. The two arts taught are those of the Katana (long sword) and the Shinobigatana (straight sword). Both of these weapons are formidable in combat, yet they each have a distinct flavor that makes them unique. For sheer power and fluidity, the Katana has no equal. For strength and defense, the Shinobigatana is the superior choice.
Overall, Kenjutsu is a compendium of Martial skills that bring about the cultivation of hand/eye coordination. These skills enhance the warrior’s intuition pertaining to the crucial art of timing and combative distancing. Aside from it’s obvious cutting and striking skills, the Ninja sword also has many hidden abilities. |
CORE SYSTEM - KIHON NIN-BUKI
KIHON NIN-BUKI - BASIC WEAPONRY
As with all things, one must formulate a foundation to build upon. The foundation for weaponry training is formed around the “Kihon Nin-buki,” or “Four basic Ninja weapons.” These are the Hanbo (short staff), Tanto (knife), Kusari fundo (weighted chain) and the Kugi (throwing spike). These four weapons are used to enlighten the warrior to the fundamentals of armed combat.

KARUJUTSU - ACROBATICS
Attaining acrobatic prowess is a careful combination of learning body awareness techniques, acrobatic dynamics and the proper way to lighten the body through breathing. Only by gathering all the information possible and constantly reviewing it can the student increase their knowledge of their body and how to improve its strengths while minimizing its weaknesses. The skills studied include; breakfalls, rolls, leaps, handsprings, aerial flips and a variety of balance techniques.
